Other Voices, the renowned Irish live music event, is to return to Derry in February 2014, following a successful event there earlier this year.
Although Other Voices has its home in Dingle – which will host the next festival from Friday 6 December to Sunday 8 December – it has also branched out, having put on events in London, as well as Derry. Next year's Derry event will take place from 7-9 February, with performances once again taking place in the Glassworks building. An Other Voices Music Trail will take music out and around the city.
This year's Dingle event will see the usual host of acts performing in the beautiful and intimate surroundings of St James' Church. The artists already confirmed to perform are: David Gray, Lisa O'Neill, Hozier, Patty Griffin, Lulu James, Mogwai, John Grant, Ásgeir and Agnes Obel, with more to be announced. As in previous years, the Guardian will be streaming performances from the festival over the course of the weekend.
Philip King of Other Voices said he was delighted to be returning to Derry, which has been the UK City of Culture this year. "We have an opportunity to build an enduring legacy over the next three years, share our knowledge and learning with the city and establish a renewable and refreshable resource making this singing city audible and visible the world over," he said.
