The Ustinov is making something of a reputation for itself for giving second productions to contemporary plays - recent successes include Fraser Grace's Breakfast With Mugabe and David Greig's wonderfully wild Outlying Islands. Now two Scottish plays get their second chance. Alan Wilkins's Carthage Must Be Destroyed was a big success at the Traverse last year and gets its English premiere in late November. But it's David Harrower's wonderful Knives In Hens that's first out of the blocks in a production directed by Charlotte Gwinner, which relocates the action from Scotland to rural Wales. A top-notch cast of Welsh actors, including Siwan Morris and Robert Gwilym, has been assembled to tell this strange, sensual story set in a small, closely knit community where a love triangle develops between a young woman, her husband and the village outcast.
