With movie production in this country consisting of either major studio fare or micro-budget independents, short films are an area where newcomers can make their mark and more experienced film-makers can sustain their skills. This festival aims to keep the momentum going with a strong selection of (mostly free) training events and workshops, and guests including Shifty director Eran Creevy, who'll discuss such technical terms as pitching and blagging. There are also local historical films and environmentally themed works, plus shorts programmes screening everything from animation (Noesis) to documentaries, as well as quizzes and competitions.
