A singer representing France at next month's Eurovision contest says he is ready to add French lyrics to his English-language song to calm an uproar. Language purists and even the government are upset that Sebastien Tellier's song Divine will be sung in English. The contest is watched by tens of millions of people each year. France's minister for cooperation and Francophonie, or French speakers, has asked Tellier to try to "honour" the French language. Tellier told RTL radio yesterday that he might add French words, but said he did not agree with critics that English lyrics would slight France.
