Raspberry awards for Travolta film

So stiff is the competition that they are probably the most difficult film awards to win. But the film Battlefield Earth which starred John Travolta has managed almost a clean sweep of Golden Rapsberries in recognition of its profound awfulness.

So stiff is the competition that they are probably the most difficult film awards to win. But the film Battlefield Earth which starred John Travolta has managed almost a clean sweep of Golden Rapsberries in recognition of its profound awfulness.

In the eve of Oscar ceremony in Santa Monica, the film based on the novel by Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard took almost every Razzie. Only Madonna, who won worst actress for The Next Best Thing, and the Blair Witch Project sequel, disturbed Battlefield Earth's progress to glory.

"It was actually a cake walk for jurors. 'Battlefield' was truly wretched," said Golden Raspberry Foundation founder John Wilson.

The Razzies, which are gold-painted raspberries, go to the films and actors voted the worst of the year by 535 foundation members.

Razzies for Battlefield Earth included Worst Picture, and John Travolta won Worst Actor and Worst Screen Couple along with anyone sharing the screen with him in Battlefield Earth.
