Jarvis Cocker mixes Motorhead and Disney

Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown Festival programme, announced today in the Observer's Review section, is a study in contrasts. In an eclectic line-up for the South Bank Centre's summer arts jamboree, the former Pulp lead singer has put vintage Disney tunes on the same bill as heavy rockers Motorhead and made strange bedfellows of folk singer Melanie, a star of the Sixties and Seventies, and subversive Eighties band The Jesus And Mary Chain.

The Observer is a media partner of Meltdown 2007 and tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday. Between 9am and 1pm, 150 of the best seats for all events will be held back for Observer readers. Call 0871 6632520 quoting 'Observer reader offer' to book these seats.
