The rock band Oasis yesterday completed its line-up by announcing former Hurricane Number 1 guitarist Andy Bell as its new bass player.
Bell, already a Creation Records label-mate of the Gallagher brothers, has been in rehearsals with the band for it forthcoming US dates.
He said: "I'm very excited. Oasis has always been an inspiration." His new role will see him switching from lead guitar to bass.
A spokesman for Oasis said: "He's a brilliant, brilliant musician, a cool guy and he'll be brilliant on stage. He's a very gentle bloke - calm and laid back. But then that's just like the rest of Oasis now. They're all pretty calm and laid back."
Bell is the second addition after the band was reduced to a three-piece when guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs and bass player Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan quit.
