It wasn’t until the films that the image of each of these characters solidified in people’s minds as a certain race or ethnicity, and that, argues site member Hawwa, is why some people are now so astounded at the casting of Noma Dumezweni to play Hermione in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. If you can only relate to a character because they look exactly like you, that doesn’t mean much…
