It’s been six years since Hudson Mohawke released his debut album Butter, but that’s not to say the maverick producer has been sitting around twiddling his thumbs. During that time the Glasgwegian has established himself as one of the most in-demand producers in pop – working with Kanye West, Drake and Young Thug to name just three.
None of these collaborations have seen Hud Mo selling out his adventurous tendencies, but Lantern undoubtedly gives him a chance to focus entirely on his own unique vision, from rattling beats and digitally-skewed symphonies, to guest spots for the likes of Antony Hegarty (Indian Steps) and Miguel (Deepspace).
“This album is everything I’ve been working towards,” he says. “I wanted to make a classic - at least for me and my friends. I never wanted to be any genre. I wanted to be my own thing. Everything.”
