Destroyer’s tenth album has already been receiving rave reviews, with some claiming that it could be the critically-adored Canadian outfit’s best album yet.
It’s certainly a record that nods to the classics – Lou Reed and Bruce Springsteen are two reference points here – yet it also has its own unique feel. Dream Lover is an explosive and joyous burst of guitars and sax, whereas Hell features strident strings and a melancholic brass part. In fact, the whole album is orchestrated beautifully – drifting dreamily in places; bursting into life during others.
