Janelle Monáe – Electric Lady: Album stream

Electric Lady is the follow up to The ArchAndroid, the Guardian's favourite album of 2010 – have a listen and let us know how it compares

Those who follow our Album of the Year awards closely each December - and if you don't, why on earth not? – will recall Janelle Monáe as winner of of our favourite album of 2010. The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III) was a dazzling listen – a genre-skipping concept record that told the story of a time-travelling android freedom-fighter from the year 2719.

Now she's back with Electric Lady, billed as yet another full-length "emotion picture". According to Monáe herself, the album aims to be a "soundtrack for the Obama era, something that spoke to the beautiful, majestic and revolutionary times that we're living in."

Does it succeed? Alexis Petridis will have a full review later this week, but for now have a listen using the player above and let us know your thoughts!
