New music: Young Galaxy – We Have Everything

What happens when you hand over your songs to a Swedish producer and don't hear anything back for nine months? Great pop, apparently ...

Canadian four-piece Young Galaxy decided to shake things up when it came to working with a producer on their forthcoming third album, Shapeshifting. They sent a demo to Swedish sound boffin (and Studio member) Dan Lissvik, who held on to the tracks for nine months and only let the band hear updates via Skype. Thankfully, if We Have Everything is anything to go by, they made the right decision. Ditching shoegaze for a more summery sound, Lissvik adds cascading keyboard figures and handclaps. Joyous.

Shapeshifting is out on 8 February via Paper Bag Records
