Letter: Elijah Moshinsky obituary

Meirion Bowen writes: Elijah Moshinsky mixed innovation with insight

Unlike some opera and stage directors, Elijah Moshinsky mixed innovation with deep insight into the works in question, illuminating them with both richness and relevance. His film of Michael Tippett’s The Midsummer Marriage for Channel 4 in 1984 had a magic that helped put paid to the abuse that the opera received when first staged in the 1950s.
