Mike Patton side project Tētēma to perform at Mona Foma festival in world first

Faith No More frontman’s new venture to make debut at Mofo alongside Tool frontman Maynard Keenan’s Puscifer

Faith No More frontman Mike Patton will stage the world premiere of his latest musical venture, Tētēma, at Hobart’s summer Mona Foma festival (Mofo), in Patton’s sole Australian performance.

Announced by the festival’s curator, Brian Ritchie, on Thursday, the electro-acoustic project, which released its debut album, Geocidal, in 2014, is a collaboration between Patton and the Australian experimental composer Anthony Pateras, as well as the Australian percussionist Will Guthrie and the Australian violinist Erkki Veltheim. The quartet will be performing new, unheard material in Hobart.

The early announcement for the January festival also included Puscifer, the theatrical rock music project from Tool and A Perfect Circle vocalist Maynard James Keenan, who will perform on Mona’s main stage on Friday 20 January.

The full line-up for Mofo 2017, an experimental music and art festival that runs 18-22 January, will be announced in October.
