Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Birdman and Damon Dash are to become a fixture of the small screen, as a new eight-part reality TV series prepares to follow the lives of some of hip hop’s biggest names.
The series, tentatively titled Music Moguls, is expected to focus on both the professional and personal lives of its stars. “The show will dive into the lives of these hip-hop icons like you’ve never seen before,” says the website for US channel BET. “From family to business to their love lives, the series will be packed with drama, laughs and hashtag-worthy one-liners.”
This is not Snoop’s first foray into reality TV: his series on E! channel – Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood – ran throughout 2007 to 2008, while Dash has had a show on BET called Ultimate Hustler.
Shooting for the show is scheduled to start in November for a 2016 air date, which should leave Snoop some time to work on his other TV venture, a reality show about Snoop Youth Football League, a not-for-profit organisation launched in 2005 in Los Angeles.
“It is important to not only be a football coach to these kids, but to be a life coach as well,” he has said. “It’s our way of sharing a life together. This series will finally give the world a chance to witness the stories, talent, and commitment SYFL [Snoop Youth Football League] represents in the same way I do.”
