While Fuck Buttons have been gaining more and more attention – helped by being among the group’s whose music was featured in the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony – the world knows less about Blanck Mass, the solo project of Buttons’ Benjamin John Power.
Dumb Flesh is the second Blanck Mass album, and (it says here) is “a comment on the flaws of the human form in its current evolutionary state”. Power says: “We are at the mercy of our genetic heritage every day. No matter how intelligent we are compared to other life forms, we’re still made up of the same building blocks and things can go very wrong.”
Have a listen, feel your body disintegrate and let us know what you think. If you like it, you can preorder the album here, and see Blanck Mass play The Great Escape festival in Brighton on 15 May. You can see other tour dates here.
