Wu-Tang's Raekwon details sixth solo album Fly International Luxurious Art

Featuring the likes of A$AP Rocky, Ghostface Killah, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and Busta Rhymes, the album is out in April

Raekwon has shared details of his forthcoming solo album Fly International Luxurious Art. Featuring a host of rap’s biggest names, the Wu-Tang member will release his latest on 28 April through Ice H20/EMI.

Alternately known as FILA, it includes 13 tracks in total, with A$AP Rocky, Ghostface Killah, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, French Montana, Busta Rhymes collaborations, as well as vocals from Estelle and Liz Rodriquez.

Speaking to hiphopdx.com back in 2013, the rapper described his sixth studio album as his most experimental yet: “It’s a good energy because it’s global music. It’s not just music that allows me to sit in one box. I want to make an album where people in London or people in Germany will love it. There are certain sounds I want to explore and not make it just a hardcore album from a hardcore emcee. I just want it to be universal – I want it to have stuff for the radio and for the hardest emcee’s. I want to mix it up and make it global and fly.”

The delay to his latest solo venture is perhaps down to his recent return to Wu-Tang Clan. Last year, Raekwon rejoined the rap group despite an ongoing discord with RZA, appearing on the album A Better Tomorrow, an album he originally disliked in its early stages. “I hate that fuckin’ record,” he told Rolling Stone. “It’s the production. And I ain’t shitting on the producer [RZA] because he’s one of our soldiers … [But] a whole new generation is sitting here representin’ and making fiery shit and you telling me that we comin’ out with some mediocre shit?”
