How do a band keep pushing themselves when they're already ten albums into their career? Ask Ian McCulloch, who claims that Meteorites – Echo and the Bunnymen's 11th LP – is "more edgy than anything I’ve ever done."
What he means by this is that he forced himself to look inwards and examine complex emotions regarding his Liverpool upbringing and relationship with his father.
"I wrote from the soul, more so than the heart and the brain," says McCulloch. "It scares the hell out of me, and surprises me, how much I’ve been able to reveal without putting a veil over it."
Written originally on bass guitar, these personal songs have been billed as a match for any Bunnymen album. Have a listen using the player below and let us know your thoughts.
