Brian Eno and Underworld's Karl Hyde to release joint album

The Underworld singer felt like he was 'nine years old again' working with Eno on Someday World, which features guests from Coldplay and Roxy Music

Brian Eno and Underworld's Karl Hyde are to release an album together, entitled Someday World. The two musicians previously collaborated on the track Beebop Hurry for the compilation album Athens, but this is the first time they've completed a full LP together.

"I had a big collection of beginnings sitting around waiting for something to galvanise them into life, to make them more than just experiments," said Eno, "That something turned out to be Karl Hyde."

Someday World features nine songs and a plethora of guest names, including Coldplay's drummer Will Champion, Roxy Music's Andy Mackay and south London soul singer Don-E. Both Eno and Hyde will contribute vocals to their compositions.

The Underworld man enthused about the pair's working methods: "It's a bit like being nine years old again. You have no idea what you've just been given, the record button has been pressed, and you're on. And then these unlikely patterns start to happen. The biggest surprise was discovering we both had a love of Afrobeat – cyclical music based in live playing. When Brian played me these early tracks, it was, 'Oh my God, this is home! Can I borrow a guitar?'"

Someday World is due for release in May on Warp Records.
