Beady Eye: Be – review

You've got to admire Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye for acknowledging their limitations and hiring Dave Sitek to produce their second album, its predecessor having been no more than competent. The LA hipster, TV on the Radio's guitarist, is noted for his loathing of cautious indie rock and when he makes his presence felt, the quartet sound reborn. Flick of the Finger, all horns and pounding drums, is Oasis reimagined by Joe Meek, while Soul Love highlights Sitek's attention to detail. Elsewhere, though, Beady Eye revert to their old ways, with I'm Just Saying revealing why they needed outside help.
