Liam Gallagher would reform Oasis with Noel 'for nowt'

Beady Eye frontman says Oasis could do 'a quick lap of honour' for the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe

Liam Gallagher has reciprocated his brother's opening of the door to an Oasis reunion, telling NME: "People ask would I get Oasis back together. I'd do it for nowt, but if someone's going to drop a load of fucking money, I'd do it for that too."

Speaking to the magazine in an interview to promote the second Beady Eye album, BE, Gallagher said he doubted Oasis would ever record again, but that the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe – "that fucking thing that's coming up" – next year would be a good opportunity to play live. "I'd be up for that. But I'd still go back to Beady Eye and Noel would go back to his thing. We could bury the hatchet for a quick lap of honour."

Last year, Noel Gallagher told the Evening Standard a reunion could one day be possible. "If the Stone Roses can do it, then anyone can do it," he said. "You can never predict what you'll be doing in 20 years' time, but I guess if everyone remains vaguely slim and has not gone bald, then it's on the cards. For ever."

However, Liam didn't seem conciliatory to Noel, saying that although he loved him as a brother, "the geezer that's in this business, he's one of the biggest cocks in the universe". He added that when he saw Noel at Manchester City games, "he shits it. He drops his arse. He's a mouthy cunt but when I walk in the room the cat's got his tongue."

Liam told NME that Beady Eye had a couple of Oasis songs – Morning Glory and Rock 'n' Roll Star – lined up for future gigs, though he warned: "People shouldn't be coming to the gigs to hear Oasis songs. They should be coming to hear Beady Eye. There'll be nights when we'll go: 'Look, you don't deserve it so you're not getting any of that 90s shit.'"

The first two singles from Beady Eye, Flick of the Finger and Second Bite of the Apple, charted at Nos 138 and 112 respectively. Their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, reached No 3 and sold more than 200,000 copies.
