Alt-J are the band Guardian readers would most like to win the 2012 Mercury prize.

In an online poll the band's debut album, An Awesome Wave, took first place with 24% of the vote. In second place was Jessie Ware's Devotion, with 15%, followed by Django Django, who's self–titled debut received 13%. The total number of votes cast was 7,512.

Alt–J's An Awesome Wave has been bookies' favourite for the 2012 Mercury prize since before the shortlist was announced in September. The Guardian's full poll results were:

3% Sam Lee – Ground of Its Own
1% Roller Trio – Roller Trio

The 2012 Mercury winner will be announced at 10pm this evening. The Guardian's Tim Jonze will be blogging the ceremony from around 5pm.
