Liam Gallagher starts singing Oasis songs again

Former Oasis frontman performs two songs written by his brother at Beady Eye warm-up gig for Stone Roses support slot

Liam Gallagher has made good on his promise to start singing Oasis songs again, performing two numbers written by his brother, Noel, for the first time since the band split in 2009. At a Beady Eye gig in Warrington on Thursday, Liam included Rock 'n' Roll Star and Morning Glory from his old band's back catalogue in the 12-song set.

The Beady Eye show was a warm-up for the band's Stone Roses support slot at Heaton Park in Manchester on Saturday.

Liam announced his intention to start singing Oasis material again earlier this year, saying: "I feel they're just as much my songs as they are Noel's. And if people don't like it, go to the bar or fuck off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let's have a good time."

Criticism from some fans prompted the 39-year-old frontman to retort on Twitter: "Listen up squares we're playing them live not re-recording them so chill."

Noel has regularly played Oasis tracks on tour with his new group, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

The Stone Roses play their first Heaton Park show on Friday with support from acts including Primal Scream and the Wailers.
