New music: Perfume Genius – Hood

For his new video, Mike Hadreas finds sweet succour in the arms of a gay porn star. Perfect for a plaintive piano ballad …

Have you ever been moved by a video featuring an effeminate young man cradled in the arms of a hirsute porn star? Well, if you haven't then you might enjoy this new video from Mike Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius. Hood is the second song to emerge from his forthcoming album, Put Your Back N 2 It. Hood is a plaintive piano ballad in which Hadreas's bruised vocal is joined towards the end by galloping drums and a piano figure that's more bar-room singalong than slight and skeletal. The video, directed by Winston Case, stars gay porn actor Arpad Miklos, whose duties here range from combing Hadreas's hair to dressing up as Freddy Krueger.

• Put Your Back N 2 It is due on 20 February via Organs/Turnstile.
