New music: Justice – Canon (Erol Alkan Extended Rework)

French duo Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay get a makeover courtesy of the London DJ

You know you've made it when you've had an Erol Alkan remix. His latest clients – joining the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metronomy and Franz Ferdinand – are French duo Justice, whose recent Audio, Video, Disco album was shrouded in a prog-meets-techno fog. On this re-rub of Canon – premiered here exclusively – the cloud isn't so much cleared as blasted away, Alkan taking the track's noodly guitar riffs and giant synth slabs and bolting a proverbial rocket to them. The whole thing shifts three and a half minutes in. The brilliantly daft central riff starts to descend and then just hangs there, building slowly for two minutes until a juddering bassline kicks in and your head goes a bit funny. Probably best listen to this on your lunch break.

• Canon (Erol Alkan remix) is featured on the On'n'On remixes EP, which is due on 30 January and can be pre-ordered here.
