Team Dizzee Rascal | The Music Power 100 | No 28

Winning a Mercury prize could have been terminal for Dizzee Rascal; instead he and producer Nick Denton have thrived

Artist: Dizzee Rascal

Manager/producer: Nick "Cage" Denton

After winning the Mercury music prize at 19, Dylan Mills could have crumbled under the burden of expectation. Instead, expertly and intuitively marshalled by producer, manager and father figure Cage, Dizzee turned himself into black British music's powerhouse brand. The fourth Dizzee album, Tongue n' Cheek (the first on his and Cage's Dirtee Stank label), proved Mills can do virtually anything musically, and the pair's carefree sonic abandon was rewarded with platinum sales and four No 1 singles.
