Noel Gallagher got married this weekend, and let's put it this way: Oasis didn't play the wedding party. The band's former lead guitarist and songwriter wedded long-term girlfriend Sara MacDonald without any sign of his estranged brother Liam.
Noel and Liam have been scarcely on speaking terms since Noel walked out of Oasis in mid-2009. Speaking from his US tour with Beady Eye, Liam confirmed last week that he hadn't been invited to his brother's nuptials. "He goes on about how he wasn't invited to my wedding," he said. "No one was at my wedding but [the bride's] mum and my mum. Get over it, mate."
Noel and MacDonald married in an opulent do at New Forest National Park's Lime Wood Hotel, which the groom had hired at a reported cost of £60,000. Noel wore a grey suit and black tie; the bride wore a vintage wedding dress and, later, Tom Ford sequins. The first dance was the Ronettes' Be My Baby, and Russell Brand gave a speech. Paul Weller and M People's Mike Pickering were reportedly among the guests.
The happy couple met at an Ibiza nightclub 11 years ago. They have two sons together, Donovan and Sonny. Gallagher also has a daughter, Anais, from an earlier marriage to Meg Mathews.
