Liam Gallagher keeps Beady Eye on new band

Singer announces name of his first band since the demise of Oasis and reveals plans for debut album

Liam Gallagher has announced the name of his first band since the demise of Oasis. The band, which features former Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock, will be called Beady Eye.

The group are making their as yet untitled debut album with producer Steve Lillywhite, famed for his work with U2.

Oasis split up in 2009 after Noel Gallagher walked out prior to a gig in Paris. The remaining members of the band decided to continue without his involvement, only under a different name.

Beady Eye's first single is scheduled for release in October 2010.
