Damon Albarn has confirmed rumours that Blur are set to record new material, saying the band are "definitely going to do a few more of those seven-inches".
The singer stopped short of saying Blur will record a full album, but noted that their recent song Fool's Day, which was made for charity, had been a success.
Only 1,000 copies of Fool's Day were pressed in support of Record Store Day. The single-sided vinyl release was made available only through independent record shops, but within hours copies appeared on eBay for £150. Blur subsequently showcased the song on their website for fans to hear.
Speaking to NME, Albarn said: "I'm definitely going to do a few more of those seven-inches. I love the no-pressure aspect."
Dashing rumours of a new Blur album any time soon, he went on to say: "We can't do it all the time. So I don't want anyone to think there's an album coming soon, it's not possible, but we've got songs!"
The singer also stressed that fans may have to wait for new Blur material, as he is busy with Gorillaz. The animated band announced details of their first UK arena tour yesterday, starting in September.
Blur went on hiatus following 2003's Think Tank, which was made without Graham Coxon. The group, including Coxon, reunited last year and played several successful live shows, including Glastonbury and Hyde Park. Fool's Day was their first new material since 2003.
