Nine months after he didn't let Taylor Swift "finish", Kanye West has returned to the stage. The rapper performed four songs at a concert for schoolchildren in Chicago on Monday.
As part of his third annual Stay in School gig, West praised students at Farragut Career Academy for improving their grades, attendance and behaviour. Appearing with hip-hop buddies Lupe Fiasco and Common, West gave a lesson in swagger, performing Run This Town, Good Life, Touch the Sky, and his new single, Power. This was the live debut for Power, slated for West's highly anticipated, but poorly titled sixth album, Good Ass Job.
It was also the rapper's 33rd birthday, and students at Farragut sang him an enthusiastic Happy Birthday. This may have offered some consolation following an incident on Saturday, when a sports car registered in West's name crashed into a Honolulu home. West was recently in Hawaii, recording his album, but has not been connected to the crash; two unidentified males were seen walking away from the Porsche Panamera after it tore a hole through a garage. No arrests have been made.
Kanye West will make his formal return to the public eye on 27 June at the televised BET awards.
