Kurt Cobain's daughter to make recorded debut

Frances Bean Cobain is to sing on a forthcoming album by Dresden Dolls frontwoman Amanda Palmer

Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean is to make her recorded debut, singing as part of a "gang" on a forthcoming album by Amanda Palmer. Bean will appear on the debut by Evelyn Evelyn, a project by the Dresden Dolls frontwoman and her bandmate Jason Webley.

The Evelyn Evelyn concept is, er, high. Palmer and Webley provide musical accompaniment to a pair of "conjoined twins who ... spent their lives trapped in the circus industry". According to the album's principal conceit, Lyn and Eva Neville are real people, with a real Twitter account, born in 1985 and sharing "three legs, two arms, two hearts, three lungs and a single liver". In spite of the gussied-up MySpace page, we suspect Palmer and Webley have been having fun in their dress-up box.

Seventeen-year-old Cobain is recently independent of her mother, Courtney Love. Judging from the other contributors to Evelyn Evelyn's debut, she has been keeping peculiar company. The teenager reportedly appears on a track called My Space, "an anthemic 80s power ballad" with "gang vocals" by Cobain, Weird Al Yankovic, Tegan and Sara, My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way and Palmer's fiance, the writer Neil Gaiman. Other gang-members may yet be announced.

Evelyn Evelyn's debut will be released on 30 March by Eleven Records, to be followed by concerts in the UK, Europe and North America.
