Anglophilia isn't only an English disease - and it's one affecting Amazing Baby quite seriously. While their Brooklyn contemporaries are making their way creating ecstatic worldbeat for ecologically conscious bloggers, this band have taken a different tack entirely: Britpop. Seeming to have taken their chief inspirations from the British music scene in its high pomp, circa 1995-97, Amazing Baby's music is filled with the expansive gestures of primetime Jarvis Cocker, the chordings of Blur's Great Escape and a hint of the shiny psychedelic pop of the Super Furry Animals. Something of a stampede duly accompanied the group's first visit to these shores, which their debut album Rewild goes some way to justifying, but standout tracks like Headdress and The Narwhal are worth the trip on their own.
