· At the age of 24, Ebony Bones is a showbiz veteran. She starred as Yasmin Matthews in the now-defunct Channel 5 soap Family Affairs. 'They knew I was heading to music when I brought in my laptop and padded the dressing room for soundproofing.'
· Self-taught musician Bones's debut single 'We Know All About You' has a sound she calls 'DIY - stripped down, raw, abrasive'. Grace Jones and Don Letts have attended gigs, she's supported Basement Jaxx, and US hip-hop producer Timbaland is a fan. 'He's been spreading the word about me Stateside.'
· Her attitude to success is one of pleasant surprise. 'It's so random that you can make a song in your bedroom and Zane Lowe plays it as his Hottest Record in the World.' The Radio One DJ says: '"We Know All About You" makes me want to hear more. Ebony is the business.'
· Her gigs pull in devoted fans. 'Each show has a burlesque feel, and the crowd wears masks.'
· Bones is now working with producers Richard X (renowned for his tracks for Sugababes) and Future Cut (Kate Nash) to make an album for 'the iPod generation'. 'We've got such short attention spans,' she says. 'Every track will be different from the last.'
