CD: Tiny Masters of Today, Bang Bang Boom Cake

Thirteen-year-old Ivan and his 11-year-old sister Ava are far cooler than anyone so young has a right to be. While most of their peers would be happy with the latest Harry Potter, this pair are more interested in rocking out with alt-music legends. Ivan plays fuzzy lead guitar and his sister is the bassist; their drummer/producer is Russell Simins of New York garage band Blues Explosion. Elsewhere, Karen O and Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs drop by, and anti-folk doyenne Kimya Dawson raps on Trendsetter. But, as Ivan and Ava prove on the George Bush-baiting K.I.D.S., they are more than capable of going it alone.
