The Voice: Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson to join as coach

Singer to complete lineup for BBC1 talent show alongside Kylie Minogue, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones

Ricky Wilson, the lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs, is joining BBC1 talent show The Voice as the fourth coach in the new series.

The I Predict a Riot singer completes the lineup of four coaches for the new series, which returns in January, and will join returning stars will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones.

Earlier this month Kylie Minogue was unveiled as a new coach, as the BBC looked to replace singers Jessie J and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue who declined to return for the new series.

Wilson has previously worked with the BBC as a host of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and T in the Park, and has appeared on The Culture Show.

"Who doesn't want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue? I spent last winter yelling at The Voice, and both Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am were total superstars," said Wilson. "I'm just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan."

The controller of entertainment commissioning at the BBC, Mark Linsey, said that Wilson is one of the UK music scene's "great frontmen" which makes him a great choice for The Voice.

"He knows all about performance and will complement the rest of the coaching lineup perfectly," he said.
