Guardian Weekend was last night named Newspaper Supplement of the Year in the Magazine Design Awards.
The panel of judges said that Weekend, which is edited by Katharine Viner and art-directed by Mark Porter and Maggie Murphy, was "consistently strong throughout. Clean, consistent - there is loads to satisfy its audience. It has authority and confidence and is a great complement to the main paper."
After receiving the award, Viner paid tribute to her team. She said: "Weekend has a brilliant creative team whose journalistically-led design puts content above form: visually, we like to tell the story in a way that complements the words. I think the result is both stylish and accessible.
"In addition, good magazine design can only really happen if the art directors have a strong relationship with the editors, which is very much the case on Weekend. I'm thrilled
