Today in Focus, the Guardian’s flagship daily news podcast, and Chanté Joseph, the Guardian’s Pop Culture podcast host have been honoured at the 2023 British Podcast Awards.
The British Podcast Awards celebrate the best of British podcasts from both independent and household names and highlight some of the best podcasts of the year.
Today in Focus won gold in the News and Current Affairs category, as well as being awarded silver in the General Daily category.
Soon to be celebrating its fifth birthday, the judges commented on the podcast’s ability to go deep on underreported stories, giving them the same analysis, insights and sensitive interviewing as the stories dominating the headlines.
Chanté Joseph, won gold in the Rising Star category, confirming the huge impact she has had on the industry since beginning podcasting in November 2022.
The judges said: “Chante is a wonderfully engaging host. Her wit and pop culture literacy is some of the best in this category, and in amongst vibrant, poppy production, her charisma stands out.”
