Manila hit by devastating floods – in pictures

Flooding caused by torrential rain has paralysed parts of the Philippine capital, forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes. The disaster has claimed at least 16 lives, including nine people who died when a landslide hit shanty houses in Quezon City. The authorities have issued a red alert for the region
