Arsenal’s challenge is to prolong the positive momentum generated by last weekend’s surprisingly clinical victory at Manchester City, which was so at odds with their previous approaches to daunting assignments. Arsène Wenger will not want to see his side endure the sort of scare they went through in this competition against Brighton two years ago, when they were made to work hard for a 3-2 win. Brighton have struggled in the league this season but picked up markedly since the arrival of Chris Hughton as manager and should prove tough to break down but, with Wenger likely to give starts to Mesut Özil and Theo Walcott as they continue their return from injuries, the Premier League side will be confident of prevailing.
