Chelsea v Manchester City: FA Cup semi-final player ratings

How the individual players fared in City's 2-1 win at Wembley

Chelsea

Petr Cech 7

With both John Terry and Frank Lampard left out he led the side and made some fine saves including point-blank from Agüero

César Azpilicueta 4

Got wrong side when Agüero killed tie but unlucky for City's first when Nasri's ball rebounded off him for Frenchman to score

Branislav Ivanovic 5

Despite a vital block from Agüero after 20 minutes, he was part of a Chelsea rearguard who were pulled apart

David Luiz 5

Struggled to maintain position in face of the relentless blue wave, to raise the question why Terry did not start

Ryan Bertrand 6

Replaced injured Ashley Cole. Blocked a Tevez shot well but little sight of the left-back foraging forward in attack

Ramires 5

One of two holding midfielders, a couple of wild passes found only a City shirt. Booked during unproductive performance

Mikel John Obi 5

Anonymous in midfield battle and his touch was often errant, although one free-kick nearly created a chance for Ba

Eden Hazard 5

Lightning speed was on show only fitfully although if not for Kompany's clearance he would have opened the scoring

Juan Mata 6

Skipped in and out of pockets when he could to pose City a puzzle. But failed to shape the match as he so often does

Oscar 6

Quiet, but willingness to move across the line was evident. May have won penalty had he gone down under Clichy's challenge

Demba Ba 7

Scored fine goal to revive Chelsea hopes, but was living on scraps. Might have also netted from Mikel's free-kick

Substitutes

Torres (Mikel, 66) 6

Manchester City

Costel Pantilimon 7

Flapped at Mata free-kick but redeemed himself with save at Spaniard's feet then from Ba at 2-1 as Chelsea fought back

Pablo Zabaleta 7

Solid in a defence that had less work to do. Escaped booking for grabbing Oscar and crunched into a tackle on Bertrand

Gaël Clichy 5

Vulnerable. Was nearly fooled in the area by Oscar when Chelsea rallied during opening half and was at fault as Ba nearly equalised.

Vincent Kompany 7

Could sit back and admire view before 60-yard ball put Agüero in. Made crucial clearance from Hazard and might have scored

Matija Nastasic 8

His languid style was illustrated when he outmanoeuvred Ba near his own goal, and he later foiled Mata with a crucial block

Gareth Barry 7

His curled delivery landed sweetly on Agüero's head for second goal. Sharp in tackle but booked for one clumsy foul

James Milner 7

In because of David Silva's injury and will be unhappy at one cross that went for a throw as he struggled to make an impact

Yaya Touré 9

Close to perfect. Announced presence with a raking ball to Agüero before one of his many superb surges created Nasri's opener.

Samir Nasri 7

Misplaced a simple early ball but he has been dangerous of late and was delighted with his third goal of season for crucial opening goal

Sergio Agúero 8

Assist for first goal and then produced a delightful header for killer second, but lucky to escape censure for lunge on David Luiz

Carlos Tevez 7

Impressed. Hit Cech from tight angle to force a corner then had Bertrand sprawling to stop an effort as he ran at Chelsea throughout

Substitutes

García (for Tevez, 72); Lescott (for Nasri, 86);

Not used Hart, Kolarov, K Touré, Sinclair, Dzeko
