NWA were fearsome gangsta rappers from California who incurred the wrath of the FBI. Unfortunately, this glossy retelling of their story doesn’t do it justice. Despite strong performances from Jason Mitchell (as Eazy-E) and O’Shea Jackson Jr (playing his own father, Ice Cube), Straight Outta Compton is as soft-centred as any TV biopic.
