• William H Macy has been venting his spleen over his latest role in Jurassic Park III. It seems that the constantly evolving script, which was still being updated mid-shoot, has really got the Fargo actor's goat. According to Heat magazine, Macy claimed: "Who launched a $100m (£70m) ship without a rudder? What kind of idiot is that? And who's getting fired for this? But that's the way they make these movies. I think someone should be shot." The third instalment of the prehistoric adventure, which is being directed by relative newcomer Joe Johnston, stars original cast members Sam Neill and Laura Dern.
• Los Angeles Magazine has revealed some top Hollywood secrets about why stars lost out on roles in particular films. According to the magazine, Julia Ormond didn't get a role in producer Mick Jagger's new film because she's "totally boring" while ER's Julianna Margulies was rejected from the same movie because, "I don't think she means anything." Meanwhile, the article suggests that Julianne Moore scooped the Clarice Starling role in Hannibal because rival choices Calista Flockhart and Hilary Swank were considered too thin and Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett were too tall.
• Model Kate Moss is so keen to break into films that she is adapting her favourite book into a film script. The 27-year-old millionaire is working with Nuns on the Run producer Michael White on a script for The Good Fairies of New York by Martin Miller, a fantasy novel about a pair of Celtic fairies exiled to New York. It is not clear whether Moss will work in front or behind the camera.
• Meanwhile, veteran Oscar nominee Albert Finney is remaining calm about this Sunday's ceremony and has confessed that he may not even show up. The 64-year-old actor has been nominated for his fifth Oscar, as best supporting actor for Erin Brockovich, but does not expect to win."Always a bridesmaid, never the bride. I'm not keen on the Oscar brouhaha," he said. "It's a very long evening, and not exactly my idea of a good night out, sat there for five hours in a non-smoking environment."
