In spite of evidence to the contrary, there are a lot of Graham Coxons. There's the one who's guitarist and arranger in Blur. There's the flaky noise terrorist. There's the power-popper. And now, increasingly, there's the folkie. An album that tips its hat to acoustic guitar luminaries like John Renbourn and Bert Jansch, Coxon's new one The Spinning Top shows that folkie side in all its mild and pastoral glory. It sees this otherwise most self-deprecating musician proudly displaying his talents. Live, you'll most likely see the tunesmith and the accomplished songwriter - as well as his lesser-noted ability as a charmer, too.
