Festival preview: Wireless Festival, London

Hyde Park, W2, Sat & Sun

You have to wonder if the collective experience of a festival is the right sort of environment for Kanye West; even in a hip-hop culture not short on big egos and eccentric personalities, his is one of the biggest and most eccentric. In the last five years the producer-performer has enjoyed success with his old soul-derived hip-hop, been sent to Coventry by one-time mentor Jay-Z and seen his mother/manager die. Now mildly obsessed with Bret Easton Ellis's novel American Psycho, and working with British indie type Mr Hudson, we're right to expect the unexpected here. While West rocks Sunday, Basement Jaxx headline Saturday.
