Skulduggery Pleasant: Death Bringer by Derek Landy - review

'The main character is dead funny (I mean dead AND funny!)'

This book is the most recent and the sixth in the series. I think the books are getting better. The 5th and 6th were the best. They were longer and more exciting.

The main character is dead funny (I mean dead AND funny!)

There are lots of characters and most of them have ridiculous names like Bison Dragonclaw, Auron Tenebrae and Solomon Wreath. Only one of them is a normal person (he's a journalist). The other characters are either mages, sorcerers, creatures like vampires and even a hologram person.

In this book the Necromancers are the bad guys but in the other books they were more or less neutral. Basically there are two worlds. When you die you pass from one to the other. The Necromancers want to make a passage so you can move from one side to the other. Each time a person dies, the Death Bringer (who is a Necromancer) gets more energy. If 3 billion people die, she'll have enough power to make the passage.

Some locations are better than others, like the Underground Caves, which are more interesting and exciting than the car park! In the Underground Caves are creatures that feed on magic.

I think Derek Landy is good at inventing characters and the magic that they do. I really like the fact that the book is funny all the way through.
