During the break, he told the drummer Barry Lit that hed like to put together a Yacht Rock show, to which Barry replied Im IN! and so the THREE HOUR TOUR began. Mike has gathered his musician friends of kindred spirits to be part of this new band that includes keyboards, sax & trumpet, and background singers. Many of them know a thing or two about Yacht Rock from their time playing with Barry Lit in No Static, as well as other music projects Payette has worked with. What is Yacht Rock? Yacht rock refers in part to a stereotypical yacht owner enjoying smooth music while sailing. It was that kind of soft rock with glossy production, breezy vocals, and bouncy rhythms that dominated FM radio airwaves in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
