Footage of a X1.4-class solar flare, captured by Nasa's solar dynamics observatory. Scientists estimate that the coronal mass ejection is travelling towards Earth at a speed of more than 850 miles per second, increasing the likelihood of a spectacular northern lights display on Friday and disruption to some high-frequency communications systems
