Fans of 2009's Merriweather Post Pavilion, on which Animal Collective reined in their more outré tendencies in favour of gleaming hooks, are in for a shock. Among the more conventional moments of this "visual album" – filmed by artist Perez and scored by the band – is footage of a man dressed like a tapeworm throwing around cake ingredients. Acid-fried high jinks abound, but at a trim 53 minutes, Perez's Lynch-indebted visuals don't quite wear thin. And if you've sufficient patience with the murky electronics and distorted shrieks, a handful of lysergic pop tunes bubble up from the goo.
