The DJ and curator wields atmospheric and psychedelic sounds that produce entire pulsating worlds through the speakers and between global connections. As label boss of Animalia and Cirrus, she is a Naarm/Melbourne local who’s one of the influences driving organic, kaleidoscopic shades of electronic music around the world. Behind the decks, she’s a master of playing to her surroundings, in a context-driven connection of time, space and sound. Kia can carry audiences through sunsets, sunrises, dark or sun-drenched moments. Her sets are filled with oddities and curiosities that’s good for the dancers and the chin strokers alike. She can lift listeners along curious sonic tendrils or lead them through swamp-like territories. Animalia, as a label, mix and events series is an ever-growing platform for local and international talent. It’s proof that Kia has a knack for connecting worlds through her sets but also in real life. Her decidedly community-driven approach to her work has created a global network of forward-thinking producers. The platform influences spheres of the industry as much as it feeds and pushes her own musicality. Her sets play out like a diary entry showcasing a creative honesty and sense of catharsis. Kia’s sense of curiosity underpins the Animalia curation, her own musical style, and drives her ability to throw curveballs into the mix with instinct, confidence and energy. At once her music is futuristic, versatile and experiential and in a few short years has landed her well-respected international nods. Her set from Sustain Release Year 8 was named Resident Advisor’s Mix of the Day while her listening mix on the Dekmantel Podcast received Mix of the Year. Whether it’s through digital platforms, physical events or through the headphones Kia keeps it unexpected and refreshing.

Tangela

Tangela’s style of aural storytelling is as distinct as it is varied. She guides the listener through deep, subby, subterranean worlds, encouraging listeners to float up through spacious, textural soundscapes full of unexpected turns, all with a nimble and playful touch. You’ll find yourself wondering how it is you got here from where you began. Tangela’s meteoric rise through the underground scene finds its origins in her late night radio show ‘citrus’ on Eora / Sydney’s iconic FBi radio 94.5FM, currently in its fourth year of broadcasting all things “squelchy, wobbly, gooey, twisty”. Her signature style has translated from the airwaves to dance floors across many of Australia’s cult clubs, DIY warehouses and bush raves, including her own as founder of both dstreet and Minutiae Festival. A name impossible to ignore in Australia, Tangela’s sound has been shared internationally via Boiler Room, Future Intel, Lyl Radio, Refuge Worldwide and more. Versatility is her strength. Equally in her element slowly building though chuggy downtempo, wiggy tek, and dubby breaks as she is whirling through percussive techno, minimal psy and floaty trance. Her sound is undeniably psychedelic, & one with deep connection to the Australian bush she soundtracks so regularly. Organic textures transport you to moments stomping in leafy clearings, hazy morning rays poking through the gumtrees, alongside thumping kicks drenched in subby, dubby, gurgling undertones.

DJ Scorpion
DJ Scorpion is the solo project of Amelia Jenner, label boss and radio host of cult Australian electronic label Body Promise and co-founder of the NECTAR agency. Scorp moves at a breakneck pace across genres, leaning towards driving rhythmictracks built for the floor that are both fresh and refined. Taking a darker and more twisted approach, you can expect anything from jungle, DnB, IDM, deep techno, broken beat and bigeuphoric face melters, the likes of which can be seen through her mixes for Bizarro (named oneof Resident Advisor’s mixes of the month),Melbourne Deepcast, Red Light Radio andAnimalia. 2019 saw her undertake her debut Australian tour which included a slot at the nowiconic Freedom Time festival in Perth on New Years Eve. Since making the move to Naarm in 2022, Scorp has gone on to play some of the hottest parties in town including Inner Varnika, Mutations and main support for DJ Nobu and securing a regular spot on Skylab Radio.

–
Cave:
[Techno / Breaks / House]
–
Andy Garvey [All Night Long]
https://soundcloud.com/andygarveyandygarvey
From Australia’s creative heartlands to the world’s most revered clubs and airwaves, Andy Garvey moves effortlessly at the cutting edge of electronic music.
